Find a yacht.
Add some drinks.
Put on music.
Head toward Isla Mujeres.
In reality, the boat is only one part of the day.
For a group of 10, 15 or 25 people, the details around the yacht can matter just as much: where everyone is staying, how they get to the marina, what time the boat actually leaves, whether outside food and alcohol are permitted, how much ice is available, whether the sound system is enough, where the boat can go and what happens when everybody gets back to the villa.

The captain and crew still control the vessel, navigation and safety, but the social side of the day is built around your group.
You have more control over the guest list, music, food, drinks, decorations, photos and overall pace.
That’s what makes a private yacht party in Cancun particularly attractive for birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette trips and groups who have travelled together.
For larger groups, it is also worth comparing the total price, not simply looking at the individual ticket price of a party boat.

Start With the Group Size, Not the Yacht Photo
The prettiest yacht on Instagram is not automatically the right boat.
Start with your realistic guest count.
A yacht that is comfortable for eight guests can feel very different once there are fifteen guests, crew, coolers, catering, bags and other equipment onboard.
The opposite is also true.
A huge catamaran may be unnecessary for ten friends who simply want a comfortable private day.
Ask two questions:
What is the legal passenger capacity?
And:
How many people is this boat genuinely comfortable for if we want to eat, drink, move around and spend several hours onboard?
Those numbers do not always mean exactly the same thing.

How Long Should You Book a Private Yacht Party in Cancun?
Four, six and eight hours create very different days.
Four Hours
Four hours can work very well when the boat itself is the event.
For example:
Birthday afternoon.
Swimming and drinks.
A smaller private celebration.
Sunset.
Or a boat party followed by dinner at the villa.
The problem is trying to fit too much into it.
Four hours can disappear quickly once you include boarding, cruising, swimming, food, photographs and returning to the marina.
Six Hours
For many groups, six hours creates a better balance.
You have more time to cruise, anchor, swim, eat and relax without making the yacht the entire day.
It also works well in a group itinerary because people can still return to the villa, shower, reset and have dinner or go out later.

Eight Hours
Eight hours makes more sense when the boat is one of the major days of the vacation.
The longer charter provides more flexibility.
But it also changes how much food, water, alcohol, ice and shade your group needs.
Do not book eight hours simply because it sounds more luxurious.
Book it because you have a plan that will actually use eight hours.
Isla Mujeres Is Often Part of the Plan
For many private charters leaving Cancún, Isla Mujeres becomes the natural direction.

A yacht day might involve cruising toward Isla Mujeres, swimming or snorkeling where permitted, anchoring in calmer water and spending part of the charter around the island.
But don’t assume every private Cancun yacht party follows exactly the same route.
Departure marina, charter length, yacht, weather, sea conditions and captain instructions all matter.
That is another reason we like to start with what the group wants rather than promising a fixed itinerary before the boat has even been chosen.
How Much Does a Private Yacht Party Cancun Cost?
This is one of the questions everybody wants answered.
Unfortunately, one universal number is not particularly useful.

- number of guests
- charter duration
- fuel
- captain and crew
- marina or dock charges
- food
- drinks
- premium alcohol
- DJ
- decorations
- photographer/video
- transportation
- extra charter time
- gratuities
This is where comparing two online prices can become misleading.
One quote might look cheaper because it includes little more than the boat and crew.
Another may already include drinks, equipment, fuel or other parts of the day.
Compare like with like.
And before booking every element individually, contact us.

Plan the Bar Around the Boat
Do not assume “drinks included” means the same thing everywhere.
One yacht might include water, beer and soft drinks.
Another might offer a basic open bar.

Some vessels or operators restrict outside alcohol entirely.

What beer is included?
Are spirits included?
Which brands?
Can we bring premium bottles?

That means the best yacht food is usually food that works with the day rather than food that looks impressive sitting untouched on a table.
Depending on the vessel and available refrigeration, options could include fresh fruit, guacamole and tostadas, ceviche or aguachile, sandwiches, baguettes, wraps, cold platters and easy-to-share snacks.

5:30 PM — return to the villa

But these groups also make one common planning mistake.
They treat the boat as if nothing happens before or after it.
Six hours drinking in the sun, followed immediately by a formal dinner, followed by a nightclub, followed by a 7:00 AM excursion the next day may look impressive on the itinerary.
It rarely feels as good when you actually have to do it.

Transportation to the Marina Is Part of the Party Plan
If fifteen people have to board at noon, saying “we’ll just get taxis” is not much of a plan.
Work backward from boarding time.
Confirm the marina.
Confirm the meeting point.
Ask how early the group has to arrive.
Then work out the pickup.
A villa in Cancún Hotel Zone requires a different movement from Costa Mujeres, Playa Mujeres, Punta Sam or somewhere further south.

What Can You Bring Onto a Private Yacht in Cancun?
Ask your yacht operator directly.
Do not assume that because you hired the whole yacht you can bring anything you want.
Check before arranging:
outside alcohol, glass bottles, outside food, catering trays, large coolers, decorations, balloons, candles, DJs, speakers, photographers, service staff or large birthday cakes.
Rules vary by vessel and operator.

You might return to the villa and keep things easy.

No schedule.
Another option is to leave two or three hours between the yacht and the main dinner.
Everybody gets back.
Showers.
Air conditioning.
Some people nap.
Then dinner starts later.
Groups continuing into the Hotel Zone that night should also think seriously about food.

Here is the kind of structure we prefer.
The day before, confirm the final guest count, marina, pickup, boarding time, yacht contact, catering, bar arrangements, music, decorations and weather.
On the morning of the charter, keep breakfast relatively simple.
Hydrate.
Do not squeeze another major activity into the morning just because there is technically enough room on the itinerary.
Have transportation collect everybody together.
Arrive before the required marina time.
Then take the six-hour charter.
Cruise.
Music.
Swim.
Eat when the group wants to eat.
Enjoy the drinks.
Make the yacht the event.
When the group returns, have transportation clearly arranged.
Nobody needs to be standing at a marina in wet clothes trying to find six separate taxis.
Then leave two or three hours free.
Dinner can happen later.
Some groups go out.
Some stay at the villa.
Some realise after six hours on the water that they are completely happy staying beside the pool.
